Estrella's Two Clubhouses Read Like Rivals. One Family Runs the Kitchen at Both.

Friday night at Starpointe Terraces, camp chairs are already claimed by six o'clock. Somebody's playing yacht rock through the speakers, somebody else is unpacking a boxed meal they pre-ordered for twenty-five dollars instead of the ten-dollar walk-up price, and the food inside that box came from Lakeside Grill. Three nights later, on the other side of the community, a different crowd is working through a plate of street tacos and shouting answers at trivia inside the Presidio Residents' Club. Most people at one event have never been to the other. Most would guess they're watching two separate operations do their own thing.

They're not. The same restaurant family built both.

One Kitchen Group, Two Clubhouses

Lakeside Grill Estrella opened in 2018 inside Starpointe, started by Deborah Huyer and her family after three decades in the restaurant business. The origin story, as Huyer has told it, came down to timing: a chef, a manager, and a trainer landing together right as the Starpointe space opened up. "All the stars lined up for this one," she said. "Let's dare greatly."

That single restaurant grew into a company. The Cantina at Presidio describes itself as the third and newest concept from Huyer Club Concepts, LLC, the same operation behind Lakeside Grill. It sits in the Presidio Residents' Club, built around a nautical-themed library room and a patio that looks out over the lake, and it runs its own weekend brunch and dinner service separate from anything happening at Starpointe.

Two menus, two dining rooms, one ownership group deciding what happens at both. That single fact explains why the calendars at Starpointe and Presidio keep bumping into each other instead of running in parallel.

What That Buys You Right Now

The clearest example is the concert series at Starpointe Terraces. When Estrella hosted its spring yacht rock night, guests could buy a general ticket for ten dollars or add a boxed meal from Lakeside Grill for twenty-five, meaning the food from one clubhouse's restaurant was the upsell at an event happening at the other end of the community. That's not a coincidence built into a flyer. That's what happens when one company owns the kitchen at both addresses and treats the whole community as one dining calendar instead of two competing venues.

Here's what's actually on that calendar this month if you live here:

  • Taco Tuesday at The Cantina at Presidio. All-you-can-eat street tacos with rice and beans, no reservation needed, paired with a trivia tournament running five to seven in the evening.
  • Brunch at the Presidio Demo Kitchen, last Sunday of the month. Live egg stations, chilaquiles, waffles, pancakes, French toast, and five-dollar mimosas and Bloody Marys, running ten to noon with lawn games in the courtyard afterward.
  • The fall and winter menu is back at Lakeside Grill. The kitchen has shifted seasonal, with the Tex-Mex Chicken Burger, the Harvest Green Spinach Salad, and the Prickly Pear Margarita on rotation alongside the steak-and-seafood side of the menu, filet mignon and prime rib for dinner, burrata with grilled shrimp to start.
  • Weekend brunch at both clubs, though on different schedules. Lakeside Grill serves brunch Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 to 2, lunch and dinner every day from 11 to 8. The Cantina at Presidio runs lunch and dinner plus weekend brunch of its own, closed Sunday evenings.

If your routine only touches one clubhouse, that list is easy to miss half of.

The Lake Between Them

The physical link matters here too. The walking path around North and South Lake connects Starpointe to the rest of the community, and it's the same stretch Estrella's community site flagged recently with a reminder about wildlife activity near the water, the kind of note that goes out to everyone walking that loop regardless of which clubhouse they call home. The Estrella Trails Group holds meetings open to any resident, not just the ones who live closer to one end of the community. So does the Community Garden Club. The infrastructure connecting Starpointe and Presidio isn't only the shared ownership behind the restaurants. It's the lake path itself, and the volunteer groups that treat the whole loop as one neighborhood rather than two.

There's also a smaller, more immediate change worth knowing about if you use the Starpointe fitness center. Jen Eisner joined the Estrella fitness team this month, an ACE-certified instructor who has been teaching since 1989 with a background that spans strength training, barre, and kickboxing. Starting September 1, she added two new classes to the Starpointe schedule: Step & Sculpt on Tuesday mornings at eight, and Kickbox Strong on Thursday mornings at the same hour. Nearly four decades of teaching experience showing up as two new class slots is the kind of small addition that's easy to scroll past on the community newsflash page and easy to regret missing once your Tuesday schedule opens up.

Why This Is Worth Knowing

None of this changes what either clubhouse is for. Starpointe still has the waterpark energy, the Big Dipper slides, the original restaurant that started this whole thing in 2018. Presidio still has the quieter, resort-style feel with its library room and lake-view patio. But the two aren't running separate playbooks. The same family decided the tacos on Tuesday and the filet on the weekend, the boxed meal at the concert and the chilaquiles at brunch, all belong to one dining program stretched across two buildings.

If you've been treating Estrella as a community with two clubs and picking a side, the ownership behind the food says otherwise. The kitchen doesn't see a divide. Neither does the lake path between them.
